Placentia, CA – In “fore” ed (Infrared)

Golf-IR-01SW
I am on a run of infrared shots! Here is one more. I recently shot a Golf Event at the Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia. I decided to take my IR camera and give golf a try! Golf courses in IR are great! Let see how actual golf looks! I snapped about 25 shots this day and was not sure what the outcome would be. I picked out one that might be a keeper and processed it. NICE!!!! Caught this guy just right and if you look close enough….the ball is actually in the sky…mid air!!! (not photoshopped!). Sweet!! Great shot buddy!!! I’d say IR Golf is now on the radar!!! Great combo!! Maybe I can coin a new style….Infored…get it…In “fore” ed. Just hoping you got a chuckle out of that one!!

Austin, Texas – Under the Bridge (HDR)

Its summer and in Texas that means you are cooking!! Its nice to be in SoCal…we are a little inland and its hot as well here! Just last nite we had a few welcome back earthquakes…4.5. Not bad, but a little shaky!! =) This shot was from a photo walk I did with the HDR Mafia Group from Austin. Miss those guys! I need to start a group here in SoCal!! Later this year, once I get settled…I’ll see what I can do. If you are in SoCal and shoot HDR…just let me know. Have fun and stay cool!

Bend, TX – Gorman Falls (HDR)

I took the day off yesterday and took the 2 hour drive from Austin to go see the best waterfall in Texas! …Gorman Falls in Colorado Bend State Park. I went with my friend Scott Goad. It was his first visit. The falls were fantastic as we have had a decent amount of rainfall this spring in Texas. I decided to bring an ND filter and try out some shots with it this day. I think they turned out ok and will get to them soon. I think the HDR might be better as it captures the dynamic range of the rocks. Those nooks and crannys come out fantastic with tone mapping! The moss is also wonderful! This is my favorite view of the falls. Luckily I didn’t bump into any snakes or scorpions on the 1 mile rocky trek to the falls…only saw a Jack Rabbit. First time ever! Those dudes are big! Enjoy your weekend!

I put a quick IPhone video up of the Falls on my FB site…Talke Photography

Have A Drink on Me! (HDR)

From an ranch in California, here is a sweet rusty old drinking fountain for your viewing pleasure. Rust, mold, cobwebs = more HDR greatness! Where are the most rusty and decaying cities in the US? Time for a photo walk in those locations! I must admit to loving grungy pics!

Boulder, CO – Varsity Lake (HDR)

From the lovely Boulder, Colorado…at the University of Colorado this is a small bridge on campus located at Varsity Lake. I was out doing business this week and woke up at 5 AM to grab some shot of the Hotel Boulderado (coming soon) and the sun was coming up around 6:45 AM.  I drove over to Varsity Lake (I had never been) and loved the view!  The reflections were wonderful!  Only one person walked over the bridge while I was taking the shots.  I sat at waters edge and snapped away.  The sun came up and it was back to the hotel to begin my day!  As it is early spring in CO, I’d love to see this spot in summer and in Fall!   Fall would be amazing!  Hope to get more versions one day soon!  Have a great weekend!

Taos, New Mexio – Marriott Hotel (HDR)

On our little getaway weekend in December…we visited Taos to go skiing. My first time ever to ski…I was excited and did well!!  We stayed 2 nights and decided to stay at the lovely El Monte Sagrado (Marriott) in downtown Taos.  What a beautiful place to stay!!    We had booked a standard room…which was excellent!  But as I walked around the hotel..I can see some people checking into their rooms…I gazed inside and was amazed!!!  If you have the extra cash..I saw some super cool rooms!!  I checked the site and they call them Casita’s.  Wow!  Decorated in Southwest style and designed perfectly!  There are only 84 rooms..so check online if visiting.

It had snowed the day before and we built some snowmen out in this courtyard.  The view above was taken the next day from the courtyard.  I loved the little stream traveling through the hotel grounds.  Gotta love hotels like this.  I don’t make hotel HDR’s often…but this Marriott was deserving!  I would surely stay here again anytime!   We caught a shuttle to the mountains for skiing and had a blast!

Cleveland, Ohio – Fountain of Eternal Life (HDR)

Cleveland Rocks!  I travel to Cleveland a few times a year.  Unfortunately, sometimes in winter….it can get cold and snowy!!   But in the summer there are a few great places to take photos.  I stay downtown at a Marriott and right out in front of the hotel is this cool fountain.  I have posted a few photos from my night sessions, but this is the first day time shot.   If you are ever in Cleveland it is a five minute walk from the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame from this location.  I feel for the Clevelander’s…as a sports fan…LeBron James left this city behind in a bad way.   I was shooting this day only a few days after he made the announcement.  I talked to a few people while walking around and they were worried about their jobs as the Cavs brought in a lot of business to the downtown area.   With Lebron gone, it will affect the whole city.   Keep your chin up Cleveland!!
