Austin, TX – Infrared

It has been one long hot summer in Texas. We have had 84 days over 100 degrees and may have a few more before the summer is over. Crazy! I watch those Coors Light commercials and the train comes by and makes it ice cold. Boy do we need it in Texas! Time to open a cold one! So I had posted this shot back in April in standard IR. Many people that see IR for the first time always say it looks like snow. So why not take the shot and make it look like a snow storm in Austin. Here is an IR shot that really is snowy! I did this using the channel mixer, a texture, and onOne Photo Tools 2.6 snow filter. Have a cool day!!

San Francisco, CA – Gotham City? (HDR)

From a visit to San Francisco I stayed at the Hilton in Union Square and always ask for a high floor. I awoke early on AM to grab and HDR through the window. Of course the window was not perfectly clean so I had to work with a few spots here and there…this made me decide to add a texture to balance them out as I thought this shot was cool enough to work with. Here is a different view of San Francisco for today! Kinda looks like Gotham City?? Throw a “Bat” sign in the sky and look out bad guys!

Roswell, New Mexico – Street Lamp

We recently drove through the famous Roswell, New Mexico…on our way back from SoCal to Austin. We stopped in just to grab a bite to eat at McDonalds and walked the Main Street just to grab a few shots, then we were on our way. I had seen these street lamps in a pic before and had to take one. Now do I believe we are not alone in this universe…yes. Do I believe aliens are visiting us and fly over our skies…hmmm, not sure. Did a UFO crash in 1947 in Roswell? Looks like a job for Mulder and Scully to prove or disprove. But this small town is cute and I must admit to loving the alien stuff all over. It gives Roswell character. I stopped and even bought a few knick knacks. I have 3 small bendable aliens on my desk right now! And in our fridge…a 4-pack of Alien Amber Ale! I’ll take a pic of it soon. Here are a few pics for now….will put up a few more in the future. Just streets shots for fun! I heard Aliens love Arby’s!!

San Francisco, CA – Golden Gate Bridge (Texture)

From the lovely San Francisco, CA….one of the most well known bridges in the world…the Golden Gate Bridge. I have shot this icon from all sides and directions. This shot was taken while walking up from a stroll down to Baker’s Beach. All of you that visit my blog know that I love textured shots. If the sky is boring…a texture will help! The photo above is just one texture. If you are interested…this is the standard version photo below…Have fun!

Vienna, Austria – Denkmal der Roten Armee (HDR)

From Vienna, Austria this HDR is of the Denkmal der Roten Armee. There is a statue included, but I just focused on the circular part of the monument. I added an anlge and it kinda feels like a roller coaster! The fun of shooting with different angles!

Some info from the web: Denkmal der Roten Armee was built by the Russians to commemorate 18,000 soldiers who died during the liberation of Vienna from the Germans. At the end of WWII Vienna was divided into different districts governed by different allied forces, of which one was the Russians.

This monument has a 12m high bronze statue of a Soviet soldier (Rotgardisten) holding a Soviet flag set upon a 20m high marble base. The monument was unveiled on19 August 1945 with a ceremony involving representatives from all the Allied forces. The inscription states that the monument ‘honours the soldiers of the Soviet army, pleased for release of Austria from fascism’. Under the terms of the State Treaty of 1955, the Austrians continue to pay for the monument’s upkeep.
