Austin, TX – Austin Java (HDR)

Barton-Sorings-HDR-SW
When I lived in Austin, I drove past this view tons of times and had always said I would stop and grab a photo. We left Austin last summer and then went back for vacation a few weeks ago and had to finally take it! A nice Austin-style location…Austin Java. Nice to have checked it off the list. =)

San Juan Capistrano, CA – All Aboard! (HDR)

SJCap-HDR-SW
We recently took a nice Saturday morning drive to San Juan Capistrano. It is a small cute little town in SoCal. I was there to scout out future portrait sessions and brought along my camera to take a few shots. It was a typical sunny day in CA, so HDR was not in my mind. We walked along the train tracks and the Amtrak Train pulled up. Here you can catch the train down to San Diego if you would like! One day I will try it…unfortunately, it is not cheap! But I bet great views of the pacific!! After the people got off I set up for an HDR. Kinda an unexpected cool shot! A mid afternoon HDR! Enjoy your weekend!

Denver, Colorado – Capitol Building (HDR)

Denver-Capitol-HDR-04SW
From downtown Denver, CO you can find the Capitol Building. I processed this same shot just recently, but just for fun wanted to try a different look. A darker grungier version is above. Which one is better? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!! Here is the other version…

Tokyo, Japan – Cemetery (HDR)

From Tokyo, Japan…I was wondering around the Tokyo Tower and only 50 yards away across the street you can find this old cemetery tucked in between some buildings. Unfortunately, I do not know the customs..but you can see smoke in the background. Used to ward off spirits? Not sure. It makes the graveyard a bit spookier. I am not one to visit cemeteries, but this one was to cool to pass up!

St. Augustine, FL (Infrared)

From the lovely St. Augustine, FL…a place meant for Infrared photos. Any location with palm trees will rock in IR! Added effects thanks to textures and onOne Software Perfect Photo Suite. Not sure if there are any sports fans out there…the Jan 30th issue of Sports Illustrated in the first few pages of photos had an infrared sports shot in the magazine! It was a golf tournament…very cool! Click here to see it…Sports Illustrated. It is the first time I have seen IR used in a mainstream publication. Very cool!!

Paris, France – Where the streets have no name

Not many strolls around a city can top one in Paris with the Eiffel Tower in your view. This day I had taken tons of Tower shots and wanted to try a different view and went walking around town trying to get the Tower showing above the tops of buildings. This area was lovely…and I can imagine very very expensive! Bakeries and small shops on every corner…must be wonderful to live there! Crepe time…Oui Oui!

ADVMX – Finish Line Ahead

Just one more shot from the MX action on Sunday. I was contacted by one of the racers #512 Tye W yesterday. As it is difficult to go thru 2600 pictures so quickly, if you are anyone you know was at the race…contact me and I will gladly search my pics and make a personal gallery like I did today for Tye! As you all know I like to have fun with my pics…HDR, selective color and of course textures…and MX action is true photographic art. The colors of the gear and the action can’t be beat! So why not make it even more artistic! This shot was done with three textures and some masking. Very cool! Hope you enjoyed the race Tye!

Austin, TX – Infrared

It has been one long hot summer in Texas. We have had 84 days over 100 degrees and may have a few more before the summer is over. Crazy! I watch those Coors Light commercials and the train comes by and makes it ice cold. Boy do we need it in Texas! Time to open a cold one! So I had posted this shot back in April in standard IR. Many people that see IR for the first time always say it looks like snow. So why not take the shot and make it look like a snow storm in Austin. Here is an IR shot that really is snowy! I did this using the channel mixer, a texture, and onOne Photo Tools 2.6 snow filter. Have a cool day!!

San Francisco, CA – Gotham City? (HDR)

From a visit to San Francisco I stayed at the Hilton in Union Square and always ask for a high floor. I awoke early on AM to grab and HDR through the window. Of course the window was not perfectly clean so I had to work with a few spots here and there…this made me decide to add a texture to balance them out as I thought this shot was cool enough to work with. Here is a different view of San Francisco for today! Kinda looks like Gotham City?? Throw a “Bat” sign in the sky and look out bad guys!

Roswell, New Mexico – Street Lamp

We recently drove through the famous Roswell, New Mexico…on our way back from SoCal to Austin. We stopped in just to grab a bite to eat at McDonalds and walked the Main Street just to grab a few shots, then we were on our way. I had seen these street lamps in a pic before and had to take one. Now do I believe we are not alone in this universe…yes. Do I believe aliens are visiting us and fly over our skies…hmmm, not sure. Did a UFO crash in 1947 in Roswell? Looks like a job for Mulder and Scully to prove or disprove. But this small town is cute and I must admit to loving the alien stuff all over. It gives Roswell character. I stopped and even bought a few knick knacks. I have 3 small bendable aliens on my desk right now! And in our fridge…a 4-pack of Alien Amber Ale! I’ll take a pic of it soon. Here are a few pics for now….will put up a few more in the future. Just streets shots for fun! I heard Aliens love Arby’s!!
