Yorba Linda, CA – Rocking T Ranch (Infrared)

From Yorba Linda, CA my new home town…if you are into horses, you can find these tepees at Rocking T Ranch. Here you can take lessons and ride horses all day long. Here is some info you may not know about tepees…

A tipi (also tepee and teepee) is a Lakota name for a conical tent traditionally made of animal skins and wooden poles used by the nomadic tribes and sedentary tribal dwellers (when hunting) of the Great Plains. Tipis are stereotypically associated with Native Americans in general but Native Americans from places other than the Great Plains mostly used different types of dwellings. The term “wigwam” (a domed structure) is sometimes incorrectly used to refer to a tipi. The word “tipi” comes into English from the Lakota language; the word thípi [ˈtʰipi] consists of two elements: the verb thí, meaning “to dwell”, and a pluralising enclitic (a suffix-like ending that marks the subject of the verb as plural), pi, and means “they dwell”. Lakota verbs can be used as nouns and this is the case with thípi, which in practice just means “dwelling”.

Newport Beach, CA – Balboa Fun Zone (HDR)

This past Saturday was the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. I attended the walk in Newport Beach, CA at the Balboa Fun Zone. We had a great turnout. About 25 people…roughly. I wanted to HDR..and broke off from the group to see what I could find. I met Frank standing next to me during the beginning speech and he joined me for some HDR’ing. We wanted to see what HDR’s we could find at the Fun Zone. We walked up and down the streets…unfortunately, not a Fun Zone for HDR. I wanted to try an arcade in HDR. We walked into one and thought…Skee Ball in HDR…why not?? Might be cool?

Afterwards we hit the beach to take pics of the pier. Look for a shot from here soon! I enjoyed my night and snagged a couple nice shots. Frank, nice to meet you and hope you got a few shots as well! I might lead a walk next year. I have plan and if I can get it together…let ya know next late summer! How was your photo walk..if you attended?? Where did you shoot? Hope you had a great time!

Houston, TX – Hilton Hotel Bar (HDR)

From downtown Houston, TX…one of my favorite hotels is the Hilton. 2 blocks from the Astros baseball stadium and in the middle of it all! It has a great pool on the 23rd floor with big glass windows that overlook the city. Nice to swim there at nite! The hotel has a beautiful entrance (I have posted and HDR of there previously) and also a few cool bars. I liked this one and shot it in HDR. One bonus of travel is that the hotel you are staying at can add to your HDR portfolio. So book accordingly and check it out before you stay! This one I woke up at 4 AM…if I can recall…and was taking pics with the cleaners. Photographers start our days early!!

Miami, Florida – Spanish Monastery (HDR-Infrared)

One cool location in Miami is this Spanish Monastery just outside of Main Beach. Perfect for HDR and Infrared. Today this shot is both combined! A 3 bracket HDR-IR. Hope to get back there again one day!

Anaheim, California – The Rinks (HDR)

I have been working on my HDR backgrounds and found a super cool spot near where I live….it is called The Rinks. I went to scout it one day after seeing picture online and walked in and loved the wood roof!!! Perfect for HDR. I went back one morning at 4:30 AM and shot it before an Ice Dancers practice. Yes, the Ice Dancers had practice at 4:30 AM….now that is commitment!! The shot above was from the center of the rink…fisheye style!! (Sorry not Gangham Style) The curve of the roof in fisheye was cool!! I always like any sports arena in fisheye!

I just posted an HDR Composite using the upcoming release of the standard HDR from here…this shot is of Ana from the Lady Ducks. Ana was amazing posing for this shot! Thanks Ana!!

As for my HDR Backgrounds…for those that may not know…I have been selling my HDR’s as digital downloads on my site Talke Photography for a few months now. These can be used for portrait backgrounds. Also very soon Denny Mfg. will be selling my HDR backgrounds as well!! The backgrounds at Denny Mfg. can be digitally downloaded or made into a backdrop! Since not all the backgrounds can be made into backdrops, the balance of my HDR’s will be sold on my site! Both locations have exclusive HDR backgrounds.

Where to buy Peter Talke Photography HDR Backgrounds –
1. Talke Photography – digital download only
2. Denny Mfg. – digital download and option to buy as a backdrop (Coming soon)

As soon as they are released as Denny Mfg…I will let you know. Should be within the next week or so! This is what the web page will look like…

Hopefully it is not too confusing. My HDR Backgrounds are for sale right now on Talke Photography!!! I’ll put one more write up again when they are released at Denny Mfg.!!! Thanks!
