Colorado Springs, CO – Air Force Academy (HDR)

From the lovely Colorado Springs, CO you can find the beautiful AF Academy Cadet Chapel. Drive into the grounds (just takes a few minutes from the highway) and you come across the grounds of the Academy. Find a parking spot and just a few steps away, this super cool church stands out and draws in your attention immediately! Some info from the web: The Cadet Chapel was designed specifically to house three distinct worship areas under a single roof. Inspired by chapels at Sainte-Chapelle in France and the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi in Italy, architect Walter Netsch stacked the spaces on two main levels. The Protestant nave is located on the upper level, while the Catholic and Jewish chapels and a Buddhist room are located beneath it. Beneath this level is a larger room used for Islamic services and two meeting rooms. Each chapel has its own entrance, and services may be held simultaneously without interfering with one another.

Colorado Springs, CO – Garden of the Gods (HDR)

From the beautiful Colorado Springs, CO…recently all our prayers go out to the families for the recent fires in this amazing location. In the heart of CO Springs you can find the Garden of the Gods. One super cool spot. Here you can park and walk the trails around these magnificent wonders of nature.

Some info fro the web…It was August of 1859 when two surveyors started out from Denver City to begin a townsite, soon to be called Colorado City. While exploring nearby locations, they came upon a beautiful area of sandstone formations. M. S. Beach, who related this incident, suggested that it would be a “capital place for a beer garden” when the country grew up. His companion, Rufus Cable, a “young and poetic man”, exclaimed, “Beer Garden! Why it is a fit place for the Gods to assemble. We will call it the Garden of the Gods.” It has been so called ever since.

Colorado Springs, CO – Red Rocks

This shot is from Colorado Springs, CO – The Red Rocks.  It was a fun day as I had my co-worker from Japan with me traveling and we arrived into Denver early afternoon.  I wanted to hit Pikes Peak and head up to the top of the mountain that afternoon!  We took the drive south and if I can recall it was bout 2 hours?  We arrived and I called my wife to ask for hours of operation.  She called back and said we only had 10 minutes til the last tram went up!  Oh no…we were about 10 minutes away…but road construction was all over.  We missed the tram by 5 minutes and were bummed.  We grabbed a few shots and then visited Seven Falls…after wards we were driving and we saw the famous Red Rocks!  We pulled over and grabbed this shot!   We didnt stay long as we had to head back to downtown Denver, but the Red Rocks is a place I need to explore further!!  One day!

The shot above was taken before my enjoyment of HDR began.  But with technology these days…I added a little Topaz Adjust and Color Efex Pro Tonal Contrast and you have an HDR-like shot!  Cool!  I’ll get to Pikes Peak and a detailed visit of the Red Rocks one day!!   Until then!!
