From my hometown of Yorba Linda, CA…we live in a community called East Lake. Down the street from us they have condos located on a lake and every year during the holiday they are all lit up nicely! This house is the favorite of many! Kudos to them!! Hope you enjoyed the holidays…have a Happy New Year this evening!!! Be safe!!
Over the weekend we took a drive to the town of Orange. It was set up for a Christmas Spectacular. Luckily we arrived way before it started. Located at the Orange Circle you can find this tree decorated and ready for the holidays! Palm trees + a Christmas tree = a SoCal Christmas!! Hard to believe it is December already!! You all better be good for Santa!!! Still have lots of shopping to do!!
Christmas is over and we started to clean up the house today and take down the decorations. The tree was our last item to tackle. As I took a break this morning, I looked at the tree and yes, I HDR’d it and even tried an Infrared Photo (which was not good enough). As I looked at the tree…I thought why not shoot it monochrome! As I shot it this way, I decided to go ahead and get a few additional color shots. I like closeup tree shots and processed my HDR’s from this morning just a bit ago. They were cool, but we have all seen a tree HDR’d. I even posted mine on XMas. I wanted something different.
I added the pic into NIK’s Software…played with Color Efex Pro…just ok. Then tried my original thought of monochrome in Silver Efex Pro. Then I clicked on the “Antique Plate II” setting and that was it! I tweaked the contrast and hue/saturation a bit. So here is my last holiday shot of the season! New Years is next!! See ya next year XMas!!
XMas lights are always a great and easy subject for the “Trail” light effect! As long as you have a zoom lens…set your shutter speed to a 1-3 second exposure and after clicking the shutter…zoom in or out of the lights and you can get some cool effects! A tripod helps!! This shot was from the big Christmas Tree located in Dallas at the Galleria Shopping mall. You can even do this on your own tree at home…or the holiday lights outside! Have fun during the holidays!! Hope Santa brings you that new camera or lens you are hoping for!!
Only 3 days til Xmas! Just wanted to add this shot from downtown San Antonio, Texas. We visited last year and the Hilton was lit up as above. So cool! I give the hotel credit…never seen anything like this before! Enjoy the holiday season!! Hope you got your shopping completed??? Another post coming soon!
