Austin, Texas – Water Lilies

The summer is almost over and here is a nice summery shot of 2 beautiful water lilies.  They are one of my favorite flowers!  These are from our local Zilker Botanical Garden here is Austin.  I visit here just to take these shots.  The little pond is right by the entrance.  They are just so pleasing to the eye!!   Especially when the sun hits them right.  The center looks like its on fire!  Hope you had a great summer!

As the weather out there gets cold and old man winter takes over….why not post a nice summer water lily!   With a little bee hanging stopping by to say hello!  I just love these flowers.  Sorry this photo is not equal to the Monet paintings – Water Lilies…but I hope the color brightens your day!

Thanks again per my post below for visitng….50,000 visitors in 5 months!!!!   This will just be a quick photo post of a water lily from Zilker Botanical garden here in Austin.  I enjoy photographing these flowers…they are my favorite!   This one was taken hand held on a nice sunny hot day!

I took a drive late this afternoon to downtown Austin.  On the way I stopped in at the Zilker Botanical garden for a few Water Lily shots.  It was perfect time to see them open wide for the afternoon sun.  The little pond at the garden had quite a few lilies in many different colors.  I’ll post some on my website in the next few days as I process them.  This shot was very nice.  Even a little bokeh on the third lily!   While downtown I took some IR shots of the Austin Capitol Building and some HDR’s as well.  If they turn out solid I might make a little Austin, Texas picture run!

As it is spring time…I wanted to post one of my favorite shots from last year.  I took this shot here in Austin at the Zilker Botonical Garden.  This water lily was so beautiful…it kinda looks like the middle is on fire!  Such great colors!  This photograph was recently published in Hill Country magazine (Spring 2009 issue) …here is the link for the magazine site…  http://www.hillcountrymagazine.com/issues/20091/

One of my favorite times of the year in Texas is spring!  I am getting ready in the next few weeks to take tons of flower pics.  We have a few road trips set up already.   Here in TX sometimes all you need to do is pull over roadside and you can get some great wildflower photos!!   I’m sure I will have lots to post in the next month or so.  My macro lens is ready to go!  And per my post below..Im gonna try a few flower IR shots as well.  Hope the weather is warming up where you are!
