From a recent visit to Tampa….the skyline is amazing for photographers. The bridges light up in multiple colors. Great for after dark photographs! ..and get this…it is just a standard long exposure photo…no HDR! Enjoy!
If you ever get downtown Tampa stop by and see the Tampa Bay Times Forum. A great spot for an HDR. A nice big parking lot, then you can take the 5 minute walk to get the cool waterway city skyline shot! Tampa is a small city…but def worth a few pics! Hockey playoffs are going on right now….hope your team made it! The Lightning did not make it this year. So the arena is quiet.
I was just in Tampa for a quick stop and got up early to catch sunrise this day. Since my last visit the city has added lights on the bridge that alternate colors. While the sun was rising…I could see blues everywhere! The buildings were catching the light and were blueish so I waited til the bridge was masked in blue. I want this one in my office printed on metal! Kinda reminds me of Tron! Enjoy!
Florida is one my my favorite places to visit. I lived near Orlando for a couple years and enjoyed every minute of it. The top 3 cities to see in FLA are Orlando, Miami and Tampa. Now Tamps does not have a ton of stuff to do in the city, but still has some great views! …and many sweet beaches near! This is a shot downtown from my last visit. I sat on the bridge and as it became darker I had to watch my back. Ah the things we do to get that one shot! I grabbed a few pics and it was time to get back to the hotel.

This picture is from Tampa, Florida this past week. I took it early AM while the sun was coming up around 6:50 AM. The location was on the Channelside Drive Bridge. Right next to the Tampa Convention Center. I took an early morning walk and set up my tripod and shutter release. Took 3 exposures. Post processing in Photomatix and slight touch up in Photoshop.
Tampa is a small city. Not alot to do in the city – but the surrounding areas is where it is at! You can drive across the bridge to St. Petersburg in a few minutes and see the Rays play baseball. Some local parks are Busch Gardens and Lowrys Zoo. The west coast of Florida has some of the best beaches. Siesta Key has white sand and now matter what time of day its always nice a cool to walk on! The one of my favorite beaches in Florida is Clearwater. Cute little community and a wonderful place to relax!
If you dont want to stay on the left coast – Orlando is 1 hour away. Miami is 3+ hours. Key West is 6+ hours. There is tons to do in this great state. I do miss living here. If I had 2 choices on where to live – 1) Southern California 2) North Orlando area in Florida. I like to have things to do and see and both of these locations offer tons. I know we all have different opinions, so what you prefer is up to you!
You can easily spend a week in any location in Florida. Theme parks for the kids, beaches to relax on for the adults. If you get to Florida…enjoy your stay bring your sun tan lotion and watch out for the gators!!!
