There is only one word for Salzburg in the summer…breathtaking!  Such a beautiful city and the surrounding mountains are amazing!  I have been to Salzburg in the winter and summer…summer is perfect!  I have posted before about the available tours and sights.   We took a personalized tour this day with our own driver for 2 hours.  I had seen much of the city, so we made that part quick!  We were eager to get out in the open and explore!

The driver took us about 30 minutes outside of Salzburg to this amazing location…Wolfgang Lake.  He stopped roadside for us to get this photo.  At the lake there is a hotel were many wedding and gatherings occur.  It seemed early in the day…the local Ferrari Club had its meeting.  We witnessed some wonderful expensive collectibles!   It seemed like a play area for the wealthy!   A wedding was happening that night.  It was just a qucik stop over, but it took our breath away.

I’d love to go back to Salzburg again one day!  The hill are surely alive with the sound of music!!!  Enjoy!

In Europe one of my favorite places to visit is Austria.  I really enjoy Vienna, Innsbruck and Salzburg.  Salzburg is the home of the scenes from the Sound of Music movie.   It is a beautiful little city.   Wonderful during the summer.   This photo is of the Salzburg Castle.  One of the biggest castles in Europe.    It has great views that overlook the city.  Some top sights to see in Salzburg are; Salzburg castle, St. Peter’s Monestary, Salzburger Dom, Gitriedegasse (shopping area), Mozarts birthplace house, and Mirabell Palace (wonderful flowers and view of the castle).   You can find tours at your local hotel.  I took a personalized 3 hour tour (Euro 150).  My guide showed us all the sights and took us to some amazing countryside road outside of Salzburg.  One of my favorties was Wolfgang Lake.

You can also take a hop on hop off tour…which is fun!  Salzburg Sightseeing Tours ..and choose your locations.   Maybe a City Tour, Sound of Music Tour or an Eagles Nest Tour.  I’d like to take the Egales Nest Tour next time….it s a trip into the Bavarian Alps to see a WWII German outpost.  Supposed to have amazing views!    Austria is one beautiful country…a must see!
