La Quinta, CA – La Quinta Resort & Spa (HDR)

La Quinta Resort & Spa HDR_Talke
We just arrived back from a nites stay at our favorite hotel near Palm Springs….the La Quinta Resort & Spa. A sprawling hotel with tons of pools all over! 40+? It is located 10 minutes from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. I woke up early to grab shame shots there and it was closed. I drove back and walked around the hotel and while cruising back to our room for breakfast..I saw this beautiful view! The reflections in the pool are 2 cool! It was a nice cool 112 degrees there yesterday. We are back home cooling off! Enjoy!

La Quinta is just outside of Palm Springs, CA and this hotel is one of my favorites to stay for a day or so to relax and enjoy swimming in the pools. I think they have something like 28 of them! My kinda place! Time to take the drive out and take a few days off! Meet me there!

Mission In HDR _Talke
About 30 minutes from where live you can find the sweet hotel Mission Inn. Great for HDR’ing! I went up this day early to grab some shots and love the architecture! This is a walkway that overlooks the courtyard below. I am looking forward to going during the holiday season….they have a million lights! Look for pics in December. Have fun!

Las Vegas, NV – Caesar’s Palace (HDR)

Caesar's Palace_Talke
I have been to Vegas tons of times. But only a few to try and capture HDR’s. Vegas can be tricky…it all depends if you want tourists in your shots. You can go the long exposure route at sunset or wake up at dawn and then you only have to deal with a few drunk people stumbling around to get back to their hotel. I like dawn..its quieter and a bit safer! This morning I targeted my shots and was walking back to my hotel and stopped in at Caesar’s Palace. Only a few people to dodge for this lobby shot. Vegas is great for HDR’ing…great shots outside, lobbies, hallways…I have even seen cool elevator areas I’d like to capture!

Riverside, CA – Mission Inn (HDR)

Mission Inn_Talke
From Riverside, CA…one of the most beautiful classic hotels….the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. A hotel filled with old world charm. This was my first visit. A lovely place to see if you are in the area. The photo above is a fisheye of the amazing rotunda. Probably the most photographed location at the hotel.

Some history from the web: From its modest beginnings as a 12-room adobe boarding house to its current stature as one of the finest hotels in the United States providing a total of 238 rooms and suites, The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa has been the cornerstone of Downtown Riverside since 1876.

By the 1890’s, Riverside was the richest city per capita in the United States. The consistent influx of tourists to Riverside made Frank Miller, the Master of the Inn, recognize the dire need for a grand resort hotel. And so, the evolution of The Mission Inn began. Frank Miller opened the first wing of his new hotel in 1903. The Mission Wing was built in Mission-Revival style architecture and incorporated different structural elements of the 21 California Missions. Mr. Miller went onto add three more wings to his hotel: the Cloister, the Spanish, and finally completed it with the Rotunda wing in 1931.

Las Vegas, Nevada – The Mirage (Infrared)

Las Vegas is a perfect place for any kind of photography! HDR, IR, Portrait, Street…you name it! Hey even UV…wasn’t CSI originally from Vegas. UV Photography is key for investigators! The shot above is from walking down the strip one early AM. Added the new filter “Oil Paint” in Photoshop 6! Enjoy!

Miami, Florida – Breakwater Hotel (HDR)

From South Beach in Miami where you can find some sweet hotels lit up at nite along the strip. This is Breakwater Hotel. Looks broken down on this day. Doors might have been closed for renovations…but lights still work!! I checked out their site…all remodeled and they state it is the sexiest hotel in South Beach! Looks nice! $209/nite for a November stay. Time to hit Miami!!
