Costa Mesa, CA – Orange County Fair – Sky Flyer

One more shot from the other nite. Unfortunately, I did not take many pics…just a few..all hand held. This was was taken walking by the Sky Flyer looking upwards. I had my 50mm f/1.4 and snapped away! I’m hoping to get back one nite before the fair closes and take a few long exposures.

Copenhagen, Denmark – Nyhavn (HDR)

Back in early December I was in Copenhagen and took this shot of the Nyhavn decorated for XMas!  Such a beautiful photo location!  Copenhagen was a quick stop over visit…so I hope to get back again in the summer? Here is some info from the web:  Copenhagen is the capital and largest city of Denmark, with an urban population of 1,167,569 (2009) and ametropolitan population of 1,875,179 (2009). Copenhagen is situated on the islands of Zealand and Amager.

First documented in the 11th century, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the beginning of the 15th century and during the 17th century under the reign of Christian IV it became an important regional centre. With the completion of the transnational Oresund Bridge in 2000, Copenhagen has become the centre of the increasingly integrating Oresund Region. Within this region, Copenhagen and the Swedish city of Malmö are in the process of growing into one common metropolitan area. With around 2.7 million inhabitants within a 50 km radius, Copenhagen is one of the most densely populated areas in Northern Europe. Copenhagen is the most visited city of the Nordic countries with 1.3 million international tourists in 2007.

Copenhagen is a major regional centre of culture, business, media, and science, as indicated by several international surveys and rankings (see International rankings below). Life science, information technologyand shipping are important sectors and research & development plays a major role in the city’s economy. Its strategic location and excellent infrastructure with the largest airport in Scandinavia[6] located 14 minutes by train from the city centre, has made it a regional hub and a popular location for regional headquarters as well as conventions.

Copenhagen has repeatedly been recognized as one of the cities with the best quality of life. It is also considered one of the world’s most environmentally friendly cities. The water in the inner harbour is so clean that it can be swum in, and 36% of all citizens commute to work by bicycle, every day cycling a total of 1.1 million km.

A lovely city indeed!    Talke Photograsphy Settings:

Copenhagen, Denmark – Nyhavn

NIKON D300, Nikon 12-24, HDR in Photomatix

I just recently visited Copenhagen, Denmark for the first time.   I only had a few hours to walk around on a Sunday afternoon and take a few shots.  My target was the Nyhavn.  Probably the most famous spot in Denmark.  I arrived via taxi about an hour before sunset and the views were wonderful!  I am not sure you can take a bad photo here..  They had just decorated it for the holidays and some lights were up and it gave the location a nice warm feel!  I walked down one side of the canal and took lots of photos (HDR, standard and IR).  I might have spent 1 hour walking only 300 yards.  The colorful buildings, docked boats and reflective water were perfect subjects!

This shot was taken with my usual 5 exposures, cable release and tripod….post processed in Photomatix.  This became an instant favorite of mine.  I think I will use it for the cover to my Places 2 Explore Volume 2 Photo Book (Vol 1 info is noted above)..due out in 2010.   I will post a few more shots from here soon…more of the Nyhavn with details on Copenhagen!
