REVIEWS: Blueslr (control your DSLR w/your i-device)

I have always had gear lust for one of these new style camera controls.   On the market you can find Blueslr and onOne’s DSLR Camera Remote.  Both have pros and cons.  But my choice in the field is Blueslr!  onOne must be connected to a computer…so only for studio shooting.   Blueslr can be used anywhere…thanks to Bluetooth!   But only for Nikon cameras at this time.  Cost: $149.00

For a great video review…click the Real Estate Photography Podcast’s link.  This is where I found this cool product was available.  Mike Miriello does a great job breaking it down in detail.

Pros (my thoughts)

*Use your phone/IPad to release your shutter (so cool!)

*GPS tagging of photos (if you want)

*Small size & easy to install and use!

*Great for HDR bracketing!

*Use up to 300 feet away!

Cons (my thoughts)

*Only certain supported devices (check the site for details)

*No picture review on you i-device (but I hear Version 2 will have this?)

*No ability to change camera settings (A, S, ISO, etc..)

I have heard on forums beforehand that it does not fit with an “L Bracket” on your camera due to the design.  It is flexible and I had no problems with my bracket.  Pic of my camera is above with the bracket on.  This is one cool gadget!  We all carry our phones with us everywhere…to have an app to take pics is awesome!  Blueslr just needs to add pic review and camera setting adjustment to the next version and it will be perfect!   At this stage of Blueslr…I’d give it a 7 out of 10.
