Vienna, Austria – Denkmal der Roten Armee (Infrared)

Vienna is amazing!! Your can easily spend a day walking around the Ringstrasse and taking tons of pics!! SO many great sights to see. It is one of my favorite European cities. A must visit if you can!

Sorry it has been slow recently…it will be for another 2 weeks. We bought a house in SoCal and its a fixer upper. We have lots of work to do before we move in. Hope to be in the house in 2 weeks. Then everything will be back to normal! =) Enjoy!

Anaheim, CA – Disneyland: Space Shuttle Endeavour flyover

I took an early extended lunch today with my wife to go see the Space Shuttle Endeavour fly over Disneyland. The objective was to capture that iconic shot…Disney Castle + Jet/Space Shuttle. We arrived early and the park was filling up. I think most of CA today was taking off to see the last flight of Endeavour before it rests in Los Angeles. I heard streets all over were like parking lots and some businesses near the routes were charging for parking. Today was California’s fly over day. We arrived at the Disney Castle around 10:30 AM. We heard it would fly over at 11 AM. Time kept passing and no Shuttle. Luckily this one guy near us (NASA fan based upon his T-Shirt) had one of those special radios and gave us frequent updates. The past few weeks in SoCal has been hot and today it was another toasty one…so every passing minute…was not easy. I’d guess near the castle a couple thousand were gathered to see the shuttle. The kept announcing, “In a few minutes, the Shuttle will arrive and fly over the castle”…everyone clapped! 15 minutes after the first announcement, they said it again…everyone groaned this time. LOL People are classic. Finally we had news it was minutes away! No one had a clue which way it was going to fly over. Everyone prepped their cameras and looked toward the castle. How cool would have it been if the Shuttle flew right over the castle…what a picture that would be!! The all of a sudden the jet appeared! Not over the castle, but way in front of it! We all had to turn our heads over our shoulders to catch it! It was basically way in front of the castle. Ugh! You had to act fast. I think the min MPH of the jet had to be 375 mph. Probably in 5-7 seconds it was gone!! I zoomed in and grabbed the shot above. As it flew away I zoomed out and caught it flying over Space Mountain (below). Kinda ironic! LOL After waiting nearly 2 hours…the shuttle was gone. Everyone around could not believe the flight plan was to fly this way and hoped it was on its way back for a second flyover? We all waited and then heard the news it was already heading up north. Kinda sad. All the people were unhappy…we all wanted to get “that iconic shot”. No luck! I posted on my FB page…maybe Tinkerbell blocked the flight path over the Castle? Oh well…not the shot I was hoping for…but we did witness history!!! Hope to see the Endeavour up close in LA next year!!

Austin, Texas – Capitol Building Rotunda (HDR)

From my old hometown of Austin, Texas…this shot was from the back area of the Capitol Building called the rotunda. This day a storm just passed thru and I luckily brought my fisheye lens! Any circular subject is great for fisheye shots. Hope all is well with all my HDR Mafia guys from Austin!! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Sports Room in HDR

I was looking thru some old pics and found an HDR fisheye pic of my old sports room! This was from a few years back…my man cave in all its glory! If any of you have been reading my blog for the past years…I am a big Pittsburgh sports fan…Steelers, Pirates and Penguins! Basketball…Celtics all the way! Unfortunately, its all packed away now. Up on top of the walls you can see all my original Sports Illustrated covers…kept since 1978! Fat Heads, autographed stuff all over, posters, cards, hats from each visit to the Burgh, hey even for video game fans..my original Intellivision, Atari and Nintendo…all working!! Hey even check out the VCR! Classic!!

Las Vegas, Nevada – Excalibur Hotel (HDR)

One more from Vegas…as the sign says…”Cheap Food, Cold Booze, Live Music”….thats why its tough not to love Vegas. The Excalibur is one of the hotels when you see it you say to yourself cool…but for an HDR…its white…not so cool. White subjects in HDR often turn grayish. I was walking back to my hotel passing by and I just wanted to catch a different view. Above is what I captured. Not bad Excalibur! ..and HDR at Knight!

Miami, Florida – Super IR Main Beach

Miami rocks for Infrared! This day I had my Super IR camera. It can create some very colorful IR photos. Stuff you have never seen before. This one def has color!! I decided to sell the SUper IR as it is so specialized…I barely used it. Plus carrying 3 cameras on a trip with lenses = 2 much!! Have fun and happy shooting!!

Las Vegas, Nevada – Luxor Hotel (HDR)

From my recent trip to Vegas…this shot was on my list. I arrived near sunset and thought the light rays might be shooting along with the sunset behind the hotel….got lucky! One cool design for a hotel. Never stayed there…not sure how the room are. If the Nile is your style…this is your kinda place! =)

I was trying to find some cool and different spots in Vegas to HDR after taking this shot. I had an idea for the MGM hotel. Woke up early on AM ant 4:45 AM and walked over…hoping that things would have quieted down. Geez!! Even at 4:45 AM…people were partying and gambling! I talked to security and my idea was shot down without proper approval. I tried! If anyone has any contacts at MGM…please let me know. If not, I will try to call in advance and get the shot set up! Hopefully one day! We can all dream! Have fun!
