San Juan Capistrano, CA – Mission San Juan (HDR)

If you are ever in Orange County, CA…a must visit is the cute little town of San Juan Capistrano.   Here you can find a hot spot for photographers….especially for portraits.  I stopped in for a few quick shots and was one of many photographers.  But the only one shooting in HDR…this made the Mission nice and quiet!  We have Missions here in Texas and they are all tied together even with the ones located in California.   I can imagine it is a lovely place to get married.  Afterwards there are some great Mexican restaurants right down the street!  Mmmm…I can go for some Fajitas right now!  LOL  There is an admission fee to get in, but worth the few dollars.  The grounds are beautiful!

Info from the Web:  Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded on All Saints Day November 1, 1776, by Spanish Catholics of the Franciscan Order. Named for Giovanni da Capistrano, a 15th century theologian and “warrior priest” who resided in the Abruzzoregion of Italy, San Juan Capistrano has the distinction of being home to the oldest building in California still in use, a chapel built in 1782; known alternately as “Serra’s Chapel” and “Father Serra’s Church,” it is the only extant structure where it has been documented that the padre Junipero Serra celebrated mass. One of the best known of the Alta California missions (and one of the few missions to have actually been founded twice—others being Mission San Gabriel Arcángel and Mission La Purísima Concepción)—the site was originally consecrated on October 30, 1775, by Father Fermín Lasuén, but was quickly abandoned due to unrest among the indigenous population in San Diego.

Amazing HDR work. Yeah, this is a cool place to go. The missions here in California always garner many photographers. 🙂

    2. You managed to get so much light into this little church. Fantastic HDR, Pete. (I know this place well).

Dang Pete, I literally just got back from the OC last night. I had a couple hours to kill yesterday and ended up spending them in newport beach, wish I would have stopped here though as it was only 15 minutes from where I stayed in Laguna beach.
