Yorba Linda, CA – Nixon Library

Nixon Library_Talke
If you come visit my hometown…a must see is the Nixon Library. The tour is decent, but the view of the reflecting pool is tough to beat! I posted an IR version of this shot a while back. This is the normal view. Both very cool! Enjoy!

Yorba Linda, CA – Richard Nixon Library & Museum (Infrared)

Nixon-Library-IR-01SW
From my hometown of Yorba Linda, CA…the Richard Nixon Library and Museum is down the road a few minutes from my house. I had never visited and decided to take a lunch and run over for a few photos. SoCal is known for sunshine and cloudless days….so I brought along my IR Camera. I took the tour and it was a cool experience. I took a few HDR’s look for them here soon. The shot above is of the reflecting pool. Probably the best shot at this location. Perfect for a mid afternoon infrared shot! Enjoy!!

Cleveland, OH – Garfield’s Tomb (HDR)

It’s been a while since my last fisheye post! I’ll admit, I have not used this lens in over 6 months. I always love seeing shots in fisheye. It is definitely not an everyday lens, but when used properly…it can create wonderful art! Enjoy!

Dallas, Texas – Grassy Knoll View (HDR)

While digging through some old pics yesterday I found this shot from Dallas, TX.  I was standing on the lawn next to the hedges on the famous “Grassy Knoll” where President Kennedy was shot years ago.  Its quite odd visiting such a place..but that is what history is all about.  There is even an “X” on the road where it happened.   I recently watched an updated conspiracy theory show on the shooting. With updated technology they proved that there was only one shooter….Oswald.  It was obvious that he was hired for the assignation…but by who?  The US Government or the Mob?  After all these years…we will probably never know.   If Jack Bauer was around then..this crime would have been solved in twenty four hours!! LOL

Cleveland, Ohio – Garfield’s Tomb (HDR)

I was in Cleveland this past week and noted a few places 2 explore.  One on my hit list was located at the Lakeview Cemetery.  I have never shot at a cemetery, but this was different…I had no notions of shooting gravestones.  At Lakeview they have a big building…Garfield’s Tomb.  I had seen photos and it looked perfect for HDR!  I got in late on my flight and was joined by my friend David.  We only had 30 minutes to shoot and the Tomb is only open daily from 9-4 PM.  So we did our best.  Got off a few shots and was cut short on a few I wanted to try…so I will have to visit again one day!  As you can tell the ceiling is very cool.  A great location indeed!  Post another shot here soon.  Kinda eerie driving around the graves, good thing it was daylight!  =)

Info from the web: Built in memory of the 20th President of the United States, James A. Garfield. The Monument is open daily April 1st through November 19th from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM and is staffed with a guide.  In the crypt directly below the Memorial Hall are the bronze caskets of President Garfield (draped with an American Flag) and his wife Lucretia.
