Orlando, FL – Disney World (HDR)

Disney-World-HDR_Talke
Been a while since we lived in Florida. I miss heading down to Disney World every few months. We now have Disneyland here in SoCal…I think Disney World is a bit better. But SoCal has CA Adventure! I guess I should be happy either way…many people love to vacation in both spots…I have had both within 30 mins of my house. Hope you are enjoying your summer….only a few weeks left!!

Fireworks!

YL Fireworks SW_Talke
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th!!! Here are some fireworks I shot from our local show last nite. We were a bit aways, but I thought the treeline would add a cool bit of interest to the shot! Enjoy!!

Yorba Linda, CA – (HDR) – Have a Happy New Year!!

Eastlake-XMas-HDR-SW
From my hometown of Yorba Linda, CA…we live in a community called East Lake. Down the street from us they have condos located on a lake and every year during the holiday they are all lit up nicely! This house is the favorite of many! Kudos to them!! Hope you enjoyed the holidays…have a Happy New Year this evening!!! Be safe!!

Miami Beach, Florida – Colony Hotel (HDR)

From the colorful Miami Beach here is the the Colony Hotel. I awoke this day around 5 AM and went down to the main strip to catch the lights. It was quiet…luckily! Typically its crazy. I must say being middle aged…Miami is def a place for youth and the party people! The women are dressed up at 10 AM and you can find all kinds of odd folks there as well. One time me and the family stayed at a hotel on the strip and had to check out the next morning. Everyone was partying in the hotel at 2 AM. Too much for me…my party days are over. And I also needed my rest to get up in a few hours to catch photos of the sunrise! LOL

It was summer at this time and the standard Florida camera situation arose this AM. I came from a nice cool air conditioned hotel room. Parked on the strip. Grabbed my camera, took it out and due to the high humidity…it fogged up right away. Just wiping it does not help. You have to wait about 10 mins for it to adjust. I had forgot about this and had to wait it out. Just in time before the sun rose…I grabbed the shot above. Enjoy your weekend!

London, England – Street Light (HDR) + HDR Tip!

London is amazing and taking photos there is challenging and fun! A tripod while shooting near the river Thames is difficult as the Police will shut you down. So set up, grabs your brackets quickly and move along…maybe you can catch the shot you are looking for! After being hassled on either side of the bridge, I started my walk back to get a close up of Big Ben. This shot is from walking over the Westminster Bridge. I loved the street lights stopped set my gear tip and grabbed the shot! Cheers!

Processing HDR Tip: Software these days is awesome! I have noted a big jump in sharpness of my HDR pics. Let me tell you my secrets!
1) I switched from using Photomatix to HDR Efex Pro. I feel as though HDR Efex Pro is sharper when producing tone mapped photos right out of the gate!
2) I add NIK’s Tonal Contrast filter to my HDR’s. Mask any areas that added additional noise due to the process (especially skies).
3) onOne Software’s Photo Tool 2.6: I use “Portrait Sharpen” filter on every picture! onOne rocks!! I can’t live without onOne. It is my favorite!

That is all! These three steps help sharpen my shots!! Of course start out with a sharp pic from the get go with a tripod!

Dallas, Texas – Galleria XMas Tree (Trail Light Effect)

XMas lights are always a great and easy subject for the “Trail” light effect!  As long as you have a zoom lens…set your shutter speed to a 1-3 second exposure and after clicking the shutter…zoom in or out of the lights and you can get some cool effects!  A tripod helps!!  This shot was from the big Christmas Tree located in Dallas at the Galleria Shopping mall.  You can even do this on your own tree at home…or the holiday lights outside!  Have fun during the holidays!!  Hope Santa brings you that new camera or lens you are hoping for!!

San Antonio, Texas – Hilton Hotel (HDR)

Only 3 days til Xmas!  Just wanted to add this shot from downtown San Antonio, Texas.  We visited last year and the Hilton was lit up as above.  So cool!  I give the hotel credit…never seen anything like this before!  Enjoy the holiday season!! Hope you got your shopping completed???   Another post coming soon!
