Austin, Texas – Hamilton Pool (HDR)

It has been near freezing here in Texas for a few days in a row.  So I decided to head out to Hamilton Pool to catch a few icicles yesterday during lunch.    The waterfall is barely a waterfall, but as I walked up I saw the ice hanging from the cave wall above.  As it is winter and wide angle shot is nothing special….trees are bare, everything just looks brown.  Although the pool was super blue!!   I decided a close up shot would have to be the photo of choice.   It was warming up a bit and you can see some drips fro the icicles.  I thought I heard today that there was snow in 49 out of 50 states as of yesterday.   I assume the 50th without snow is Hawaii??  A fun winter indeed!   When will it be over??  Stay warm!

Austin. TX – Hamilton Poll (Infrared)

When we moved to Austin, TX I had no idea there were many parks and great waterfalls in the area!!   Hamilton Pool is one the the best when flowing strong!  If you are coming to Austin or live here…these are my favorite waterfalls…

1) Gorman Falls (1.5 hours from Austin) – Bend, TX

2) Hamilton Pool

3) Westcave Preserve

4) Krause Springs

5) McKinney Falls

Are there more?  Bull Creek, Zilker Park, St. Edwards Park…any more spots?  If you know of any, post it in the comments.  I’d like to visit Bull Creek and St. Edwards one day soon!   Enjoy the beauty of nature!

Austin, Texas – Hamilton Pool (HDR)

Hamilton Pool in Austin, TX is a great location for HDR’ing!   The rocks, trees, pool and the waterfall work well with the shadows and highlights.   We were here a few weeks ago and the 2 days before we had heavy rain…this led to the waterfall flowing quite nicely!!!  As it is now almost spring…I’d like to try this shot next year when ice forms on the walls of the cavern and hang downward!   I bet it would be wonderful!    When summer arrives this pool will be filed with people swimming!  Maybe I will try it this year?   Cannonball!!!  Have fun!  Don’t forget f/22 for water motion in HDR’s!  =)
