Pasadena, CA – City Hall (HDR)

Pasadena City Hall (HDR)
Pasadena is a famous city in California. It is know for the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl. My favorite spot is Old Town Pasadena.

Here is some info from the web: Old Town Pasadena spans 21 blocks downtown. It boasts upscale retail shops and a wide variety of restaurants, nightclubs, outdoor cafés, pubs, and comedy clubs. “One Colorado” features renovated historic architecture that attracted the new retail stores and restaurants. This development filled vacant buildings and was the impetus of the revitalization of Old Town on Colorado Boulevard. Paseo Colorado is an upscale shopping mall designed to be a modern urban village. An open-air mall that covers three city blocks.

It is a wonderful place to eat, shop and photograph. Here you can also find the City Hall. A beautiful building as you can see above. Look for more pics soon! Enjoy!

Denver, Colorado – Capitol Building (HDR)

Denver-Capitol-HDR-04SW
From downtown Denver, CO you can find the Capitol Building. I processed this same shot just recently, but just for fun wanted to try a different look. A darker grungier version is above. Which one is better? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!! Here is the other version…

Austin, Texas – ROT Bike Rally (HDR)

Right now in Austin you can go downtown and enjoy the ROT (Republic of Texas) Bike Rally (June 8-10). This shot was from last nite. I met up with my good friends… Andy ATMTX, Dave Wilson and Jim Nix. It was my last photo walk in Austin. We only have 10 days left here. It was great to have my last outing with my Austin HDR Mafia guys! I’ll miss having the opportunity of shooting with them!

Sorry the shot above is very very very busy! We met up downtown at around 6:30 and grabbed some bike shots near 6th street. The parade was scheduled for 8 PM. This is when hundred of bikes roar down Congress Avenue, then park. After parking a concert is on and the party begins! The photo above is after the parade, the bikers can park their bikes in the middle of Congress and leave them there while they go have fun and enjoy the music and activities. As you can tell…lots o bikes!! On the side of the shot you can see the people walking…in the background the Texas Capitol Building. That is a lot of action indeed!!

It was the first time I had ever been to to ROT…and it was an experience. After this shot we went out to grab a few more HDR’s. Look for them soon! Ride On ROT!! Here are a few more pics…

My favorite bike of the nite….

and a cool bike during the parade…

Denver, Colorado – Capitol Building (HDR)

From Denver, CO the Capitol Building is a beautiful location for an HDR! I remember I was on my way to the airport this day and stopped in for a couple quick shots. The interior dome rocks! With this shot I added a little different look…almost looks Egyptian? …Using onOne Software Photo Tools. Have fun!

San Diego, California – City View (HDR)

San Diego, who would not want to be there right now? It is a lovely small city in Southern California. So many things to do there…Sea World, San Diego Zoo, USS Midway, Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, Coronado, Point Loma Lighthouse, Petco Park, Old Town San Diego or just take a harbor cruise! And do not forget to stop by and grab an In-N-Out hamburger!!

The shot above was from my hotel room…the Holiday Inn on the Bay in SD. I was up on the 13th floor and had a nice city view! Remember to always ask for a view room when you check in!! YOu can see I used my 500mm f/1.4 lens for this shot. I wanted to keep the noise low and shot nearly wide open. One of my very few ever used 50mm landscape shots.

Dripping Springs, Texas (HDR)

From the small town near Austin called Dripping Springs…there is this old building off the road. It does not have any signs or notes. Not sure what is was used for? Unfortunately,it is now empty. An old jail?? Love these kind of places!

Austin, TX – Infrared

It has been one long hot summer in Texas. We have had 84 days over 100 degrees and may have a few more before the summer is over. Crazy! I watch those Coors Light commercials and the train comes by and makes it ice cold. Boy do we need it in Texas! Time to open a cold one! So I had posted this shot back in April in standard IR. Many people that see IR for the first time always say it looks like snow. So why not take the shot and make it look like a snow storm in Austin. Here is an IR shot that really is snowy! I did this using the channel mixer, a texture, and onOne Photo Tools 2.6 snow filter. Have a cool day!!

Portageville, NY – Lyn’s Life Boats (HDR)

When traveling to Letchworth State Park depending on the route you take to get there…you can drive through the small town of Portageville. Just a few old historical buildings…some still in business some not. I love little towns like this! I saw this old business on the way in and decided to stop by on my way out and take this photo. Any old abandoned location needs that grunge look…so I added the feel via OnOne’s Photo Tools 2.6 Plug-in. Places like this want to be HDR’d. Tough to pass this one by!

Denver, Colorado – Colorado State Capitol Building (HDR)

If you are in downtown Denver you can find the Colorado State Capitol. I had never been until this day and knew that inside you can find a cool dome view. My thoughts were with any circular view is to try a fisheye! I have had experience with my local dome in Austin, TX…and knew it would work just right! Getting the right angle was they key. I stopped in this day for a quick 10 minutes and then had to catch my flight…so time was limited. I dodged a classroom of kids and people walking down the stairs to attend another session…and luckily grabbed this photo! Enjoy!

New York City, NY – Chrysler Building

I was looking through some old pics the other day and before my days of HDR’ing…I actually took normal shots!  This one is the Chrysler Building seen from the top of the Empire State Building.  What a view of a beautiful city up there!  I miss NYC.  I have not visited in a few years.  Hope I can get back this summer.  I gave the shot the vintage look along with a little selective focus…both thanks to onOne’s Photo Suite!  I bet its cold in the city right now!!  Spring will be here soon!
